Practice for Psychosomatic Medicine, Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis
Our Pratice
Our practice for psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy takes a holistic approach to illness, recognising that psychological, psychosocial and physical processes are closely interconnected. Understanding how these factors interact is essential for successful treatment.
This approach differs from conventional psychotherapy by offering additional broad and well-founded expertise in internal medicine, as well as psychiatry and neurology. Specialist diagnosis and treatment combine somatic and psychotherapeutic approaches. Treatment takes physical illness into account while focusing on its psychological background, developing an understanding of illness within the wider context of the individual’s personality, and seeking solutions and pathways towards recovery.

Treatment
Psychosomatic Psychotherapy Consultation
The open psychosomatic psychotherapy consultation offers anyone with a concern or question in this field the opportunity to consult a specialist.
The consultation provides guidance in determining whether help is needed and, if so, what form of support would be appropriate. It is therefore primarily diagnostic and usually involves only one or a small number of appointments. Longer-term specialist treatment may also be provided as part of the consultation, or psychotherapy may be offered on an individual or group basis.
The type of treatment required, and whether it can be provided at the practice, is discussed and agreed individually with each patient. We also carry out basic diagnostic investigations in internal and general medicine, including laboratory tests and ECGs.
Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy takes place in regular sessions, with the frequency depending on individual needs. Treatment may range from less frequent to intensive sessions and typically extends over a period of around six months to two years, or longer where appropriate.
The therapeutic approach is principally analytically oriented and, in accordance with the specialist medical qualifications of the practice, also incorporates behavioural therapy and other therapeutic techniques where appropriate. The indication for individual therapy is determined during the psychosomatic psychotherapy consultation.
Group Therapy
The relationships we form are often influenced by internal perceptions rooted in our family and relationship history, which can distort and interfere with our relationships in the present. Group therapy can provide a particularly effective setting in which to recognise and work through these patterns.
Group therapy is a particular focus of my practice, with sessions generally taking place in the late afternoon or early evening. The indication for group therapy is determined during the psychosomatic psychotherapy consultation.
